User Story Resources

At Dialexica, we strongly advocate creating and working from user stories as part of litigation planning.

This page will serve as a repository of on-line resources relating to the creation and use of “user stories” to drive internal litigation processes.

Briefly, we believe that the concept of “user story” can easily be mapped onto “custodians,”–but should not be confused with simple custodian-based batching. We may re-term it “custodian story,” but again, the concept of “user story” that we are developing for lawyers is somewhat broader than that envisaged by software development.

In the context of legal software, it maps perfectly. however, in the context of internal litigation processes, it can also be used quite well to drive team efforts and create acceptance criteria for task “doneness.”

So, please just use this section as a starting point for understainding what a software ‘user story” is, and we’ll tie it up in the White paper series and other publications.

Books and book chapters will be placed here.

What is a “User Story?”

A lot has been written by Mike Cohn and Ron Jeffries about the purpose and construction of user stories.

We will add gloss for lawyers in the blog, as well as publish model user stories for lawyers that you can use in your practice.
